These are compatibility files for Wheels! (a marathon engine game) to make it work in Aleph One. If you happen to own Wheels!, you can combine it with these files to play it with Aleph One. The original game supported input devices for people learning to use a wheel chair, and I don't know if those work in Aleph One. You will be limited by whatever inputs it supports, so this is mostly just for people curious to go through the game outside the context of its original purpose.

Narrow Mountain Path is a weaponless platforming map combining tricks that let the player climb stairs higher than .33 WU and regular fast precision platforming. If a player gains a bit of height off the ground they can put their feet within .33 WU of a higher ledge and climb it, again giving them extra height they can use to climb subsequent steps. Using air control you can also steer off and onto a ledge so that you gain a height boost as if you were climbing a step which makes longer than normal horizontal jumps possible.

Despite the special trick emphasis I've tried to make this a flowy fun map to play through without falling or speedrun. Included in this download is a speedrun film and a film showing some more beginner friendly routes. A second version of the map with 3x health and an AR can be reached with level skip for more speedrun fun.

Straferunning is required to beat this map. To strafe run, press your forward + left or right strafe key to move faster at a slight diagonal.

Screenshot titled "Simulate netgames with more than 8 players!"

Single Player Network Game is a set of Lua, physics, and shapes to simulate a network game using bots. The lua script automatically populates maps with the bot monsters, and the shapes and physics make them look and act like players in a multiplayer game. Note that this only works on netmaps that don't have embedded physics (this is the vast majority of netmaps). There are many configurable settings you can tweak to get just the multiplayer experience you're looking for.

This project is based on RadBurn's Marathon Conflict mod, and wouldn't exist without the work he put in to create the shapes and the original set of physics. I've included the unmodified Conflict shapes in this download to simplify the setup process, but RadBurn did all of the work for that. I have tweaked the physics a bit from the original conflict physics, mostly to make the bots act more like real players in a network game.

If you're just wanting to be able to revive in a single player game without reloading the map/saved game, then there's also a script for that that doesn't have any of the bot stuff.

Adminn said he'd make this script, but it's been literally forever and he hasn't done it.

(Requires Alephone v1.4)

Notes for version 1.5:

Screenshot titled "Overlay enabled using v2.7D"

This script is a revised version of Iamanidiot123's advanced cheats script, which is based on the original Cheats.lua released by Treellama in the Aleph One download. I have added some additional functions including hard falling damage.

Some of the functions included, like the invincibility modes, and teleportation are intended to be used for recreational solo play or the testing and debugging of maps or scenarios. Others are intended to add additional features, like the ability to heal, or falling damage. Please see the included readme file for important information.

Notes for version 2.7E:

Same as 2.7D except I fixed a typo that prevented the use of the script. Everything else is same as 2.7D.

Improvements to this version include additions to the overlay function to display the oxygen level in blue and the energy levels in red, yellow, or dark red [I haven't been able to get purple yet] depending on the energy levels.

More detailed information is included in the readme.txt file

To those who don't seem to bother actually looking at the readme or code, the first few lines of both are acknowledging the work that both TreeLlama and Iamanidiot123 did, both of whose versions are included intact with their original readmes.

Screenshot titled "Waterloo Waterpark with the replacement shapes"

What?

A version of the Marathon Infinity shapes with all landscapes and the Water, Lava, Sewage, and Pfhor texture sets replaced with their Marathon 2 counterparts, which, as I showed in a submission to the Marathon’s Story page, serve as the basis for almost all of the Infinity versions. (Even the Jjaro set? As it happens, yes; more than half of it is based on the Sewage set. I did not rearrange the order of textures in that image at all.)

Why?

Primarily to make texturing for Marathon 2 a lot more convenient – you can just swap the shapes file between Marathon Infinity and Marathon 2 in Weland’s preferences rather than also having to change the scenario as well. Also, Vasara gets unhappy if the Jjaro texture set isn’t present; the Landscapes start to glitch out. (I don’t use Visual Mode.lua that much, but I seem to recall it having issues as well.)

Beyond that, this enables players to play through Infinity with Marathon 2 textures if they want to. I think the games are better with their intended textures, but it can be a neat experience to play Infinity with M2 textures at least once. (If nothing else, levels often match their terminal graphics better!)

By whom?

Sharkie copied the textures and the 8-bit landscapes over; I redid the true-color landscapes myself because I noticed issues with their palettes. The original graphics, of course, are by J. Reginald Dujour (Marathon 1), Mark Bernal and Robert McLees (Marathon 2), and Randy Reddig, David Longo, Colin Kawakami, and Beth Ulman (Marathon Infinity).

Screenshot titled "Same color team"

Team play made easy ! This simple lua script adds a lot of options and parameters to tune your team netplay experience. It was originaly design to help people playing team deathmatch (or any other team game) by showing the teams colors on players in a more obvious way. It's now stuffed with other options !

Notes for version 0.2:

Code clean up. The color change is now optional and can be turned off by configuration edit. Added friendly fire management.
